Waldersey Pumping Station, Wisbech
Mid nineteenth century beam pumping station with brick chimney being a local landmark with adjacent 1950’s electric pumping station. The local Drainage Board applied for Listed Building Consent to demolish it but was refused consent on the grounds that they had not offered it for sale.
The Trust acquired it from the Board, undertook basic emergency repairs and granted a lease to a developer who has underpinned the Victorian building and undertaken all the major structural repairs. The repairs complete, he acquired the freehold in 2007 having secured planning consent to convert it into 3 unusual dwellings. |
