East of England Buildings Preservation Trust

East of England Buildings Preservation Trust logoThe East of England Buildings Preservation Trust (EEBPT) came into being in the Summer of 2007 and is still seeking its first project in its expanded area of operation. Details of the Trust's previous projects within Cambridgeshire can be seen under our building preservation projects.

The present Trust superceded the Cambridgeshire Historic Buildings Preservation Trust which was founded 1984 and which in turn had incorporated the Ely Preservation Trust Ltd -founded 1979.

One of the key successes of the Cambridgeshire Historic Buildings Preservation Trust, in addition to the projects it undertook, was the establishment of the Cambridgeshire Tile and Brick Company in 1993 in order to meet an urgent identified need for locally produced hand made tiles of a suitable clay and colour. The tiles they produce have been used on many buildings both for repairs and for new build within Cambridgeshire and indeed further afield. The company is now owned and run by the Bulmer Brick and Tile Company in Suffolk but bricks and tiles continue to be produced by hand at the Burwell premises.
